“Sunday Brunch at the Prince George Hotel”
Painted live between the hours of 10:30am and 3pm on location. I set up my easel and paints at the Prince George Hotel on Sunday. I painted a canvas that was 100×80 cm in size (nearly 3×4 feet). I attempted to draw upon a lot of Spring colours to produce this work, with hints of primary colours to add contrast to the hungry figures mingling around the room. I wore a pink and green dress and 4 inch heels. Painting this event proved to be a challenge because people did not tend to stay around at any spot in the room for longer than a few seconds, before they moved into the banquet room to visit more buffet tables and take more exquisite food. I captured the placement of the chef serving food at the far end of the hall, and the children’s candy table which was only a few feet from my easel. The far wall of the hall had numerous buffet stations. The display of the easter candies, large over-sized bunnies and origami birds and eggs hanging from a tree sculpture. Everything was aesthetically perfect. I had my fill of the brunch after completing the painting. The food was amazing to the taste as well as to the eyes. I can testify to you now that brunch at the Prince George Hotel on Sundays is well worth the money, if you’re considering it. Put this on your must-try list, if you want to know why it’s the best brunch in town.

Some lucky brunch attendee got this as a prize, out of the 250 people who were there.
The last time I painted at the Prince George Hotel, it was to live paint Nocturne 2009 at Gio Restaurant (which is located inside the Prince George, in downtown Halifax.) I had a fantastic experience painting for that event as well, and was glad to be invited to return.
Below is a photo gallery from when I live painted at Gio Restaurant for Nocturne 2009. Gio is located inside the Prince George Hotel. Both the restaurant and hotel itself have an extremely arts-friendly atmosphere.

I created a two panel piece. Each panel was around 32″x39″, and I worked on the pieces between 4pm and midnight that Saturday evening. The time just flew by! I would definitely enjoy painting at this venue again. [Note: I'm grateful I got the opportunity to return for Easter months later!]
