“Friday Night at the Cafe” – live painting at Shake It Dance/Cafe – 2.5 hr session.
This painting is markedly different from last week’s session. (I uploaded a better photo of last week’s painting.) Last week’s had a focus on Lesley’s dance movements. This week I focused on one of the poetry readings near the start and on anyone who sat in front of me.
The curly-haired fellow turned around and asked me how it was going about halfway through. “Oh, not bad. You’re in it. You sit in my way, you get in the painting.”
“I heard. I intentionally sat here.”
Pfft.
I need to sit in a different corner of the room next time. (A new angle!)
Paintings are always done live while people sit around watching the Open Mic performances. I’m done within three hours. This one took two and a half hours. There were about four or five children who repeatedly visited me as I worked.
